TOP 5 REASONS TO COACH
DISCOVER FIVE REASONS to BECOME A GEORGIA CYCLING COACH
As a Georgia Cycling coach, you’ll see the progression of student-athletes both on and off the trail. Georgia Cycling teams are comprised of all skill levels so you will get to know – and make an impact on – kids who don’t pursue athletics but still feel the joy of being part of a team. You will feel good knowing that you are part of something that makes a difference in people’s lives. You can see the fruits of your work in the development of the young people on your team. There are dozens of reasons you should get involved as a coach with your local Georgia Cycling team, but you are busy so we are only sharing the top five.
#5 - IT IS A FAMILY AFFAIR
Cross country mountain biking is a great way to build extra family togetherness into your life and support your kid as a young athlete. Many of our volunteer coaches get started because one of their children are eager to join a team. After a while, the “mtb bug” has bit the entire family. (Don’t worry…he is a friendly bug who only spreads positivity!)
#4 - HELP KIDS ACCESS the LIFE-CHANGING BENEFITS OF YOUTH SPORTS
It’s clear that sports participation helps kids get more physical activity. But did you know that active kids do better in the classroom?
According to the research from the Aspen Institute Project Play, kids who play sports achieve up to 40% higher test scores and are 15% more likely to go to college. They also face less risk of health complications, such as heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
#3 - FEEL THE JOY IN SERVING OTHERS
Every coach wants to see their team win medals, but the top priority for a youth mountain bike coach is the development of young athletes, both in character and in skill.
#2 - MAKE A DIFFERENCE
There’s no such thing as a child having too many positive influences. But it is quite possible for children not to have enough people with a vested interest in their development. As a Georgia Cycling coach, you can be a positive role model, something so many children desperately need.
Many coaches don’t fully realize the impact they can have on a child’s life. It can be huge and lifelong. Spending time trying to unlock each rider’s individual potential is a mutually beneficial experience for both the athlete and coach.
#1 - no experience necessary
While many youth sports require coaches to have some experience with the sports they choose to coach, becoming a Georgia Cycling coach requires no such prior experience. All you need is the passion to spend time outside with student-athletes eager for positive mentorship. We will teach you the rest!!
