Rain Impacting Race Three
Overnight, an unexpected amount of heavy rain fell on Dauset Trails. We recognize that this could be a surprise for some based on where you live in the state. But the overnight rain combined with a week’s worth of rainfall in Jackson is forcing us to make adjustments to race weekend as we need time for the track to dry out a bit. At this point we can announce the following changes to the schedule:
There will be no Pit Zone Load in on Friday afternoon; the field is too saturated at this time. We will communicate directly with Head Coaches and Team Directors on revised load in times and procedures.
There will be no Georgia Cycling activities on Saturday. We ask that riders and their families refrain from showing up at the venue. It is our goal at this time to combine the Saturday and Sunday schedules into a single day of racing.
Our team is currently working to create a revised schedule for Sunday. It is our intention to announce this revised schedule midday on Saturday. Obviously, we wish we could provide you with an updated schedule right now but we need additional time to evaluate trail conditions. Rider safety and being good trail stewards are top priorities. It is essential we protect our riders and the ground they use. So it is prudent for us to take the next 24 hours or so to monitor water absorption on the course.
The goal is to create a Super Sunday of exciting – and safe! – mountain bike competition. We are hopeful with some time, and a bit of sunshine, we can make that happen!
