Georgia Cycling Announces 2021 Race Schedule
The Georgia Cycling Association has unveiled the schedule for their 2021 race season. Following a record-setting 2020 season, Georgia Cycling is bringing back all five race sites for 2021, albeit in a slightly different order. The shuffling of venues was designed to allow for a better progression of venue difficulty.
Kingston Downs will now open the five-race 2021 Georgia Cycling calendar. This allows us to introduce newer student-athletes to the competition portion of our program on a course that is more suited to their abilities. We believe this will create a more positive experience for students.
The Georgia Cycling Association is proud to partner with Kingston Downs, Cobb County Parks and Rec, Dauset Trails Nature Center, Oconee County Parks and Rec, and the Georgia Forestry Commission to host this year’s youth mountain biking races.
We are currently working with land managers to implement a regular format event series. However, the health and safety of our membership, staff, and volunteer coaches remains our top priority. Therefore we must remain flexible to implement a format like the one used during the 2020 season should pandemic protocols dictate. A final decision on formatting is expected later in the year. Georgia Cycling will communicate with coaches and families as our event planning unfolds.
It should be noted that the 2020 season was only possible due to your flexibility and determination to execute a safe season. Because of you, Georgia Cycling was one of a handful of leagues nationwide that continued to operate last year. Should we need to make adjustments again this year to prevent the spread of coronavirus among our members, we are confident the Georgia Cycling family will once again rise to the occasion.
